Chef Daniel's food is a culinary treat. It is rare that a chef will prepare everything from scratch, with the kind of care and detail with which Chef Daniel does. I worked with Food Network for many years, and have been a guest on the Network many times, and have worked with some of the top chefs in the world. And I can tell you that Chef Daniel is a stand-out. He goes out of his way to find the top food purveyors, selecting only the highest quality, artisan, organic, premium ingredients. Creating dishes right in front of you, his kitchen open to the dining room where you can peer into see the stacked wood for his grill. The experience is enchanted by his personal interactions, as he prepares each course, inquiring about your nuanced tastes. He creates the dishes in front of you, and the results are impressive. Chef Daniel is a hidden treasure, and it's worth the trip to Cathedral City for the experience. It's kind of like the early days of the Brooklyn Artisan Food Movement. Daniel is an artisan chef, but he is also a gourment, with a fine pallet. It's an easy drive Palm Springs or Palm Desert, and well worth the trip. You don't find this level of food often these days in the "sea" of chain restaurants. Chef Daniel's stands out, and is a culinary experience not to be missed!
Chef Daniel is back!!! We eat Gluten Free and like healthy non processed food. Chef Daniel searches and sources his food from all over California. You get organic; grass fed meats and very interesting ingredients that you may otherwise never be exposed to. Incredibly excellent food; attention to detail. He is a passionate chef and one of the best so we are happy to see him back and actually the location is very convenient between Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs on Hwy 111. We had the scallops (best scallops I have ever had) and the lamb and 2 different salads. Expect every dish to be out of the ordinary with touches you would never think of. Well done Chef Daniel!!
Balisage is back. I love the cuisine of Chef Daniel. The freshest ingredients prepared with skill and creativity. Try it. You will love it.
Absolutely fantastic, I was blown away by the unique dishes. even the water was unique!
Great food, great service. The atmosphere is incredible!!! I had the best time with friends and amazing food.
Wow! We enjoyed our dining experience and made a great memory! This is the rare kind of craftsman cooking that spoils you! Chef Daniel sources organic local and seasonal ingredients, expertly combining flavors to create beautiful, flavorful, and nutritious dishes. He bring an additional flavor profile into his food by cooking over fruit woods. Genius! The menu describes it as small plates, but we considered them to be an ample amount of food. We enjoyed Duck flat bread, heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers with feta, Smoky shrimp and lobster tail with roasted tomatoes, and an amazing Sword fish fillet on rice with green beans, and chanterelle mushrooms. We ended our courses with a lovely slice of fig cake, topped with fresh cream and orange zest. De-lish! Service was personal and attentive. We highly recommend you make a reservation and prepare yourself for a meal you won't soon forget!
This place is one of a kind, delicious food, great service and talented staff including Bruce who is an expert in this culinary world. Chef Daniel has a way to truly show his passion about food and service in all the flavor he combines to create his master piece dishes. Best place for fresh and organic food in this area. We had a blast with the family.
As always, dinner tonight was a wonderful gastronomic adventure. And wait staff was attentive and on top. Superb!!!!!
I wish to post 10 stars, and it would still not enough.
Probably many of you, "Foodies" already know about the amazing work of Chef Daniel. It was our first dinner experience at his new restaurant and we were deeply impressed.
We asked him "Omakase" (Japanese word, means Chef's selection) style. (That's not on menu.)
He uses the freshest organic ingredients only, and calculates flavor x flavor in the mouths. Sweet, bitter, sour, smokey, spicy, umami...we savored every bite exploring the orchestration of flavors. Some ingredients and spices are very unique. Cooking methods are pretty simple, but perfectly done.
Their wine selection is very unique and beautifully match his art works.
It was quiet with only one group other than us last night. But I'm very sure it's gonna be packed in season.
Service is as great as his dishes. This restaurant is full of his passion and dedication.
Chef Daniel is truly an artist. My wife and I have been fans of his since he opened his previous restaurant - Balisage Bistro - and we were so happy to hear that he opened this one.
What makes this restaurant - and Chef Daniel - so great?
1) Super fresh farm to table ingredients. We literally saw them cut greens from the stem for our salad. Bruce, the well-informed waiter, told us that Chef Daniel regularly goes as far away as Bakersfield and San Pedro and picks out only the best ingredients for his dishes.
2) You can see the passion he has to create an incredibly great experience. Each dish is meticulously plated to perfection. He also has a knack for mixing flavors that you wouldn't normally think of mixing together, yet they come out wonderfully.
3) Chef Daniel, his wife, and the staff are the nicest people in the world. They really make you feel like one of the family. I know that term gets tossed around a lot, but in this case it is the truth. Chef Daniel himself routinely comes out of the kitchen to talk to the patrons and he makes sure everything is perfect. His wife and the staff will also take the time and make sure you are enjoying yourself. You can tell that the whole staff really cares about each and every person that walks through the door.
I can't recommend this place enough. It's one of the best experiences I've ever had.
From the time I called for a reservation to our departure from the restaurant was perfection. Chef's interpretation of Mediterranean in the farm to table style is flawlessly executed. My party was 6+ so I tried nearly everything on the menu. The farm fresh fold green salad was to die for. I've never had feta fast so good. My brother had the Caesar featuring egg which he couldn't get enough of. All vegetables were cooked to perfection and the entrees were equally as impressive as the starts.
Our server Bruce was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. His passion for Chef Daniel's vision was nearly as strong as Chef's
I went for my birthday with my family and he cut a special plate of fruit for my 9mo old to keep him happy and occupied. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
Such great hospitality! We felt like we were at a good friend's house. Food was very fresh and all organic. You can taste the freshness.
Restaurant just opened June and felt warm and welcoming.
We got the 3 course meal with wine pairing for $75 each (meal alone is $55/person). You pick one entree and two other courses (appetizer or dessert). This is a great idea since some people may be more into appetizers and some may want more desserts! We love appetizers and glad we got 3 appetizers and 1 dessert to share.
Wine was also organic and we got very generous pours.
Dishes change daily. Our favorite of the night is the rabbit meat ball. So juicy and tender! The lobster and shrimp entree is also delicious and seems like an usual dish in the menu. Scallops with date sauce is pretty good.
Give it a try if you are in the area.
Chef Daniel has done it again. His restaurant is the new must eat destination spot in the desert! Friendly, knowledgable staff gave my wife and I a dinner fit for a King and Queen. It's Amazing to watch the actual cooking magic happening from our front row seats and then tasting each multi-flavor-layered dish. Wow. Cherry wood cooking fire? Who does that? Top of the line. We'll be back. Make reservations. Don't miss it!!
